Welcome to My Art Studio Sneak Peeks
These are shorty updates about my Studio and Art Life. Each capsule update is linked to a longer blog post so you can read more if you like. Inspiration sources, studio companions, travel notes and thoughts about dreams and goals are welcome here. Less algorithm, more reality. I hope you enjoy it
I'm feeling a new series growing in my heart. Blurring the lines between sculpture and painting, using some of the most ancient media used by humans. I seek to evoke emotions and memories of strength and beauty. By turns tranquil or accelerating, deeply connected to the Earth and natural processes.
Modern Intaglio, small batch releases of accessible reproductions of my small art jewelry sculptures. Designed to delight the hearts of animal lovers, whether your own or as a gift for your special someone.
Suddenly everything opened up. My desire to capture my feelings about what I see began to be met with a transformational process that had so much more depth and meaning than my previous structured and strict representational methods. Not only was colour speaking to me in a new way but now the physical shapes of each application created light and shadows of its own. My heart danced with the possibilities inherent in this process. In fact my creative spirit reawakened to my desire to sculpt.
I’ve been following my heart in sculpting a series of horse portrait sculptures that are larger than my pendant jewelry series.
I want to create a series of frameable sculpture that intrigue the eye and delight the heart.
Yep, I’m delving into making the Bronze versions of my Wolf and Bear story pendants. Finally!
My imagination has long been inspired by reading the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis and others. Tolkien’s world building is astounding and I found myself wishing to ride the fabulous Shadowfax, the magnificent Mearas stallion of Rohan. The Mearas are the legendary “first horses” of the land. Wise, powerful and loyal to the the righteous, they spark longing in the hearts of many horse lovers.
My first fine silver metal clay sculpture represents my own horse Remi. I wear him almost constantly to keep him close to my heart always. I've made this special piece to order for a few customers who have either chosen it for themselves or gifted it to a special horse lover in their lives.
